i see a reflection
of my future
in someone else’s eyes
sunshine from a heartbeat
my mirror has a name
i see a reflection
of my future
in someone else’s eyes
sunshine from a heartbeat
my mirror has a name
I’ve found myself staring a bit longer, lingering for that extra moment…just enough to cement an image into memory for quick recollection. These frozen frames are held together with threads of hope — backlit with dreams not yet realized, surrounded by a halo of what’s to come. Sunshine has a voice and the stars have a name; I’m going supernova.
Deep and dark like the heavens, those eyes rise as the sun, fall as the moon, shine through the black of night….
Tornadoes rip through the city streets
Leaving my head in my heart and my hands in the air
Clutching onto some invisible ideal, some elusive fairy tale
Splintered wood sticks out of dead bodies like bad memories
They can’t be buried like that, not now at least
From dust to birth and nothing to something
A heart beats not by choice but by perfection
Hands reach skyward, eyes blinded
Fear wiped away by thoughts of paradise
Imagine the world with nothing left behind
A cold, boring shell of shrinkwrapped new car smell
Hearts remember, they’ll always remember
Everything is left behind
But the new day makes everything beautiful
